"Give Me No Rest"

My mom has always told me that I have to ask for what I want, otherwise I can't expect to get it. There is truth to that. How can anyone know what I want and give it to me if I never ask? God works the same way. Even though he already knows my desires, he wants to delight in me.

1 John 5:14-15 says, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of Him." God always answers our prayers. Sometimes it's just hard to see it that way. A leader at my church put it this way:

Sometimes He says yes,
Sometimes later,
Sometimes NO, and
Sometimes He’s got something better in mind.
But always, always, always, He answers prayer.

Today I discovered Sermon Jams. It's a genre of music videos that mixes pieces of sermons to music. The one below is a great reminder about prayer. Never stop praying. God says, "Don't stop asking me. Don't stop petitioning me. Don't stop begging me. Bother me! Pester me! Keep knocking at my door. Give me no rest until I answer you."

There are things I want. And often I feel silly for praying for them. I usually can't decipher if it's something I need or not; I just know that I want it. So, I don't bother praying about it, figuring if it's something I need God will provide it. But I forget to ask. I forget to share my heart with God. Yes, He already know my heart, but it's such an intimate part of a relationship to share your desires and dreams with another, regardless if they know those things or not.

So, what do you want today? Don't be afraid to ask God, because He delights in the asking...
