An Unexpected Moment

I am a morning person. Not only am I up at un-forsaken hours of the morning, but I am miraculously awake as well. And on Tuesdays, I enjoy using that A.M. energy in a 6am Bible Study at my church. If you have been following my other blog, you know that I have a new smart-phone, that, well, isn't so smart. It tries to be, but sometimes it doesn't succeed. This morning was another example of the learning curve (or performance curve) of my new phone.

My alarm never went off! I somehow woke up at the time I had to leave, and was very disappointed to have to miss Bible study. I checked my phone, and my alarm was set, and still on. But it never went off. Begrudgingly, I got up and got ready, knowing I would never fall back asleep. I got ready and got in my car, put the defroster on, and sat and waited (with not so much patience) for all of the humid condensation to "melt" away. And then I saw the beautiful sunrise.

Living in Portland, we don't get much sunshine, especially in the mornings. Sitting in my car, looking at the sunrise through the condensation on my window, I felt grateful my alarm never went off the way it should have. Because if I woke up and went to Bible study, it would have been great. But this was far better. That moment brought silence and peace and made me sit. Just sit. And absorb Vitamin D. And just rest.

I could have gone to Bible study and it would have been really good. But I'm willing to bet that God postponed my waking-up today so I would have that moment. So I would have that moment of rest, that moment of peace, that moment with Him
